about

PLEASE DOWNLOAD THIS MUSIC AND SHARE IT WITH OTHER PEOPLE. IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE HOARDED, IT IS MEANT TO BE HEARD. Thank you, -Jackson-

I made this album in December with my friends George Weber and Lester Price. It holds 10 original songs, and an extra 30mins of Bonus Material- a recording of a live interview/performance I did with Lester and Luke Nestler on KDNK. While my voice as a writer and performer has already changed a lot since late 2012 (as I've played over 50 shows, had 1 tangle with a record label, got a songwriting lesson from Neil Diamond, toured through Texas, performed during a monumental weed party at Hunter S. Thompson's house, and began collaborating with several new artists… it's been a crazy 6 months), Known is a charming retrospective. A solid record of my musical journey in 2012. The songwriting is vibrant, the performances clear and kooky- and while it feels like my best album yet, I look forward to the things to come. Thank you for listening, downloading, and sharing this music. Let me know if you'd like a CD, and I'll be sure to send one to you.

"Jackson Emmer's new collection of songs is a cold, tall glass of water from a spigot out in the backyard." - Will Stratton, american composer/songwriter/arranger.

"grandma-friendly and road-worthy." - Chris Kelly, songwriter/sommelier

Track Name: never more to roam
i hang up my boots, i hang up my coat
never more to roam
i hang up my shoes, i sit on my bones
never more to roam

money in the bank, but no gas in the tank
i sit on my bones, babe, i sit on my bones!
never more to roam

i am staying at home.
never more to roam.
nev'r more to roam.
Track Name: known
i've been known to burn holes in good friends of mine.
my friends like noise, they listen to noise.
my friends like pop, they listen to pop- they like to pop.
o the boys get hard, the girls all jump for joy.
i've been known to burn holes in good friends of mine.

o yeah?

i want to see you on a magazine.
where do you want to see me?
i've been known to burn holes in good friends of mine.
Track Name: old country singers
old country singers
don't come round here much
anymore

trigger ain't running,
he can't get his hooves
out the door.

wood planks are rattlin'
rafters ring so high,
but the best country singers
sing their songs from the sky

old country singers,
the best have come and gone.
their soul's up in the clouds,
bodies under the lawn.

old country singers
don't come round here much
anymore

pancho and lefty
can't get their lips
off the floor

wood planks are rattlin'
rafters ring so high,
but the best country singers
sing their songs from the sky

old country singers,
the best have come and gone.
their soul's up in the clouds,
bodies under the lawn.
Track Name: burn this mother down
i don't hear the prairie dogs no more.
built my walls up, then i built some more.
it's an honor to be here
amongst the cold air, and the beer.
i lack the guts to say goodbye, o well,
i guess I'll stay here all my life.

been around this land a bit, i think.
saw it all unique, and the kitchen sink.
it's an honor to be here!
amongst the patchouli and the fighters-
every hippie owns a lighter,
just in case it's time to burn this mother down.

i don't hear the fertile laughing girls...
you know the ones i mean.

bury every hatchet,
i move out west.
try to make a little money,
i try my best.
it's an honor to be full,
amongst the clean sky and the crags!
i'm not one much for waving flags.
but, if you buy my croon, snow my ball or dust my broom,
i'd say it's time
to
burn this mother down.
the mayan calendar would say
it's time to burn this mother down.
i guess it's time
to burn this mother down.
Track Name: o baby
walk by the river
identify plants
your girlfriend can
but you still can't
o baby.

walk by the river
hear the train roll by
feel them bites
of the big black flies
o baby

raincoats redcoats
evergreens jellybeans
the cajun fiddles sing!

desperate housewives
apple store
first you want some
then you want more

man on the edge of a ledge
i'ma gonna jump he says
take his bones
take his breath
he ain't got much left

walk by the river
hear the train roll by
feel them bites
of the big black flies
o baby

walk by the river
identify plants
your girlfriend can
but you still can't
o baby o baby.
Track Name: up in hudson
third gear, cruise slow
billboards look me up and down
they say: love jesus, or get out of town
i don't do ultimatums well.

doc please, check on me
my blood's as thick as an extension chord
my dog told me I always snore
time has come to speak the truth

burn slow, just below
the crust of the loaf we call earth
they want proof that i'm gonna hurt
and pay for all the livin' that I've done

string me up in hudson
on a big billboard
tell the whole world i don't care
if jesus is your lord

slow drive on a new york road
saw my friends, and their twins
owe 40 grand on a record binge
reality just caught and killed the dream

pretend I'm joliet jake
drive my car through a mini-mall
shopping bags all break my fall
and all i spent was a couple sharp teeth!

harmless, though I seem
i know this road like the back of my hand
it takes a woman to know a man
it takes a man to know just when to quit

string me up in hudson
on a big billboard
tell the whole world i don't care
if jesus is your lord
